A book I highly recommend to those interested in North Carolina culture and linguistics is Walt Wolfram's "Hoi toide on the Outer Banks," which does a marvelous job of studying the Ocracoke brogue.This YouTube clip gives some nice insight into the quirky pronunciations and unique words of the Outer Banks residents.
