More about N.C. movies

Jeremy Markovich is one of the best modern North Carolina archivists. He truly captures the weird, fun and peculiar about the Old North State over at his "North Carolina Rabbit Hole." (If you haven't subscribed yet, you are truly missing out.)

In his latest, Markovich makes the case for the 5 most "batsh*t" NC-based movies. And honestly it's hard to argue with this list:

  1. Talladega Nights
  2. I Know What You Did Last Summer
  3. Blue Velvet
  4. Cape Fear (1991 version)
  5. Maximum Overdrive

They all are insane in their own ways. Of course, we have a sweet spot for the, uh, interesting Atlantic Beach-based film "The Mutilator."

But if we are talking the most "authentic" North Carolina film? In our book, that goes to "Junebug."
